Guest Speaker

Dr. Garcia

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Garcia as our esteemed guest speaker for “A Night of Possibilities” on November 4th. Dr. Garcia is a prominent figure in the field of mental health and community wellness, serving as the Executive Director of the Counseling for Community Wellness (CCW) and the founder of the Therapy Treatment Team. Since 2009, she has been a tireless advocate for mental health, making significant contributions to funding, creating, and launching programs that enhance awareness and address vulnerabilities within both agencies and the broader community. Dr. Garcia’s expertise extends to the critical issue of human trafficking, where she is a nationally recognized authority. Her skills in identifying and addressing gaps in treatment, law enforcement investigations, and services are highly sought after. Her commitment to this cause has led her to testify before Congress on two occasions, advocating for the healthcare needs of survivors of sexual exploitation. In 2017, Dr. Garcia was appointed as a national consultant for the Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP) and the National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center (NHTTAC). Her exemplary advocacy work has earned her numerous accolades, including the Community Advocate of the Year Award from the Florida Statewide Guardian Ad Litem Office in 2016 for her outstanding advocacy on behalf of Florida’s abused and neglected children, and the Purple Heart Advocacy Award from the Florida Network of Victim Services in 2012 for her dedicated work with human trafficking victims and victims of abuse. In addition to her advocacy and leadership roles, Dr. Garcia continues to provide clinical services and imparts her knowledge as a professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus. Her dedication and contributions to mental health and community wellness make her a truly inspiring figure, and we are honored to have her expand into our programs and share her insights and experiences with us at this special event.

Thank you to Island Garage Doors and Allied Pavers for being a “Knowledge Sponsor” for our annual dinner.
