On April 7th, 2017, The League Club held its annual Briefcase Breakfast, in which it awarded funds totaling over $324,000 to various non-profit organizations throughout Lee and Collier counties.  The Help a Diabetic Child Foundation was one of thirty-one local, non-profit organizations to receive a grant from The League Club’s record fundraising year.

The League Club is an organization of women in Southwest Florida who are or have been members of a Junior League that is a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International.  Each year, The League Club’s Community Involvement Committee meets to review the grants that may be awarded for projects, services, equipment, and improvements made by local organizations that make a valuable impact on local communities.  These grants are issued for the benefit of babies, children, families, and elderly in need, as well as programs involving the environment and the arts. These grants, currently totaling over $3.6 million, are then awarded to named organizations each year at The League Club’s Briefcase Breakfast.

Annalinda Ragazzo , VP and Chair of the Community Involvement Committee, said, “What a rewarding year to be able to give so many nonprofit agencies funding for so many worthwhile projects.  Record funds raised of $324,278 was through The League Club’s 2016 fundraising event- ‘She Said, He Said: Love, Life & Politics with Mary Matalin & James Carville Presented by The Northern Trust. We hope to continue working hard to extend our reach to more agencies in years to come.”

President Margaret Brodeur said, “As The League Club celebrates our 30th Anniversary, our commitment to community is stronger than ever.  The funds raised at this year’s Lauren Bush Lauren Charity By Design will be distributed by our grant review committee in 2018.  We thank our over 600 members, Circle of Friends, supporters, community members who support our event and our business sponsors for their generosity.  Together we are able to make a difference in Collier and Lee Counties.”
